Mark Morelli is Blutip's Chairman of the Board. Mark is an executive in residence at investment firm Battery Ventures, where he works alongside the firm's private equity team to assess potential industrial-technology investments. Mark was previously the President and COO of Brooks Automation, a provider of industrial automation and instrumentation solutions. While at Brooks, he executed a market penetration strategy that achieved $100 million of growth, both organically and through M&A. Prior to joining Brooks, Mark was President and CEO of Energy Conversion Devices, a leader in thin-film flexible photovoltaic laminates. Previously, he was a senior executive with United Technologies Corporation, where during a 15-year career he held executive leadership roles culminating in his appointment as the President of UTC’s Carrier Commercial Refrigeration Division, with over $1 billion in revenue.
Mark received his MBA degree in 1993 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management, with a concentration in Operations, Marketing and Product Development; and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1987 from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He served as a Mechanical Engineer at MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory. Mark graduated with Distinguished Honors from the United States Army Flight School in 1989.
Murray Bailey served in an executive role most recently (through July, 2013) as CEO of Yancoal Australia Limited (ASX: YAL), a mid-cap Australian coal company majority owned by a Chinese SOE, which listed on the ASX in June, 2012. Prior to Yancoal, Murray served as COO for New Hope Corporation (ASX: NHC), being responsible for all coal exploration, tenement management, mining and port operations. Murray now also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of PepinNini Minerals Limited (ASX:PNN), an emerging explorer for base metals in Australia and Argentina.
Murray’s resources industry career commenced initially in technical roles, progressing through operational, supervisory, senior technical, management, general management and senior executive roles in a variety of Australian and international companies. He has worked for companies such as ARCO (now within BP), CSR, Shell, Joy Global, Wesfarmers, New Hope Corp and Yancoal Australia, and across countries including Australia, the UK, Netherlands, South Africa, Venezuela, Colombia, the US and China.
Murray is an Australian citizen and graduated from the University of Newcastle (NSW Australia) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
Clint Coghill co-founded Backstop Solutions Group in 2003 as the Founding Chairman and has been helping guide the company as Chairman of the Board for the last 10 years. Clint leads the Backstop Executive Team as CEO.
Prior to joining Backstop in an executive role, Clint was CIO of Coghill Capital Management, a successful Chicago-based hedge fund management company he started in 1995. Among his other professional pursuits, Clint was the Founding Chairman of NFTE Chicago’s Regional Advisory Board, which provides entrepreneurship programs to young people from low-income communities and reaches over 2,000 youth per year. He is also the Founder of two charitable Organizations, the Coghill Family Foundation and the Environmental Impact Initiative.
Clint received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona, and his Master’s degree in Business Administration from the London Business School.
David Kelly is President & CEO of Blutip Power Technologies. David brings overs 20+ years of executive leadership experience that has resulted in the delivery of sales and profit growth for industry giants such as ADP, Dell, Metafore, Canon and Pitney Bowes. His diverse experience spans all market sectors: large multinational corporate and public sector (education, health, government), to small and medium sized business.
David's expertise in leading multinational teams that provide progressive product technologies, with special focus in SaaS, Cloud, Data Analytics and IT Solutions, has resulted in the achievement of sustainable and measurable deliverables. His vision and leadership style has transformed organization cultures into high-performance teams, aligning strategy across the organization within multiple sectors and industries.
David earned a Bachelor of Commerce & Administrative Studies (Marketing & Finance) from the University of Western Ontario and is a certified Executive Black Belt - BPI (Business Process Improvement).
James Lyle is the Founder of Fulmar Advisors, an investment management firm based in Lyford Cay. Prior to starting Fulmar Advisors, James co-founded Millgate Capital, Inc. and served as the Chief Investment Officer for 15 years. Previously he was a Managing Director of Tiger Management Inc., with responsibility for international equity and emerging market investment. He also served as a fund manager with Fidelity Management and Research and was a Vice President of Morgan Stanley. At Morgan Stanley, James was responsible for European equity assets, as well as for establishing the Portuguese Investment Fund (London Stock Exchange listed) and the Turkish Investment Fund (NYSE listed).
James holds a BA from St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University, and he served as a research officer at the London Business School, London University from 1983 to 1985. He has also served as a member of the Barron's International Roundtable.
Robert Montgomery has been an executive, investor and adviser for many years for media, communications and technology companies and in the investment community. Robert oversees an investment and consulting firm, First Maximilian Associates. Robert is the former Chief Executive Officer of Achilles Media. Prior to this, Robert's positions include President of the Americas for Fantastic Corp., Co-Founder and Chairman of Media Content plc and Managing Director for Europe and Asia Pacific at Kagan World Media. Robert has served as a Director on various public and private boards and is Past Chair of the Board of Governors of the Ontario College of Art and Design.
Jim Schuler is the CFO of Backstop Solutions Group. He has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, specifically focusing on finance, accounting, legal, operations, deal structuring, project management and evaluating financial and operational results. Prior to Backstop, Jim was a Principal and the CFO at Coghill Capital Management, with previous financial leadership roles at Goldman Sachs, The Hull Group, LLC and accounting group Schultz, Chez and Jesser, LLP. He also serves on various private company and charitable boards.
Jim is a Certified Public Accountant with a Bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from DePaul University’s Kellstadt School of Business.
